Happy 80th Birthday Gwen

On Saturday we had a surprise birthday party for Jonathan's mom at his sister Patrice and brother in law Joe's house. She had no idea we had planned a fun filled day with her family and closest friends. She was really surprised and it turned out to be a great party. We had sandwiches from Alicia's and some other goodies along with cupcakes instead of a b-day cake. Jonathan and I snuck into her house a week before while she went out to see a play with her granddaughter Emily. We grabbed lots of slides, photo albums, and the slide projector. Jonathan and I enjoyed going through the slides and albums picking out the pictures for the slide show Jonathan made on his Mac. I gave Jonathan a list of songs to help woth song ideas for the slide show and he chose Sinatra's, "You Make Me Feel So Young" and Nat King Cole's, "L-O-V-E". Gwen is such a wonderful mom, friend, mother in law, wife, grandma etc. She's like another mom to me and has been my light at the end of the dark tunnel when trying to deal with parenting issues always reassuring me or guiding me in the right direction. She is an incredible person and love her very much for being so nice, caring, and nurturing and manh more things that I'm forgetting to mention I'm sure. I can't believe she's 80! The last few years have been rough with losing her husband (he was a wonderful wonderful man) and her sister, but she is doing well and the newest grandkids Nainoa and Kaileo keep her busy! We see her about once twice a week once during the week and once on the weekend if not twice. She's always doing something like cooking up amazing dishes! I'm always trying to get recipes from her too lol! I wish her many more Happy Birthdays. The Whitehead family wouldn't be the same without her and every year that passes we are all greatful that we are able to share and spend such wonderful times with her. She is what makes the Whitehead family shine! :)
