Making Christmas Cookies

We were invited to decorate Christmas cookies up at the church on Friday at 1:00 p.m. I should have known better than to take the boys at this time as they usually are cranky, tired and ready for a nap. I didn't want to be a party pooper and said we'd be there. Everything was going well Nainoa was excited until he saw the daycare playground. He wanted to go and play, but the daycare children were napping and so I said no for fear he would wake them up. Nainoa cried and threw a fit and Kai ran away and was doing his own thing. I decided then that we needed to go home it was just too much dealing with a cranky 3 year old and a 18 month old that wanted to explore and go off on his own adventure. Luckily Nainoa calmed down a bit so we could get a few cookies decorated. We left after an hour it was clear the kids were tired. I wasn't even half way home and both of them had fallen asleep. It's tough to say no when your invited to go somewhere, but next time I know better and won't hesitate to say no thank you if it's around their naptime. I know my boys and it's not worth the drama LOL!
