Halloween 2009

This year we decided to do Toy Story themed costumes for the Whitehead bunch. Last year we bought Kai a dinosaur costume before Babystyle went out of business for $6.00. Kai at the time was just a few months old and a size 18 months seemed so big and seemed like such a long time before he would be big enough to wear it. Once October hit I really wanted to do a theme, but was stuck trying to incorporate Kai's cute dino costume with a theme. Once we decided that Toy Story was our theme Nainoa would go through the whole list of who was gonna be what character from the movie. Everytime we would pass the costume store near our house he'd recite, " Mommy is gonna Bo-Peeps, Daddy is gonna be Woody, Kai is gonna be dinosaur, and Nainoa is gonna be buzz!" So little by little we collected pieces for our costumes and I ended up making Jonathan's vest....well sort of. It was a black vest with orange, pink, and blue trim. I had to take it apart to take the trim off yuck and put some black trim to cover the rough edges. I bought some cow print fabric and sewed that on top of the vest and then put the pieces back together. It came out okay considering I don't sew well at all. My little sewing machine that my step mom gave me has been a life saver! Thanks Patti it comes in handy! I don't know how long we will be able to pull off these family themed costumes before the boys they won't want to go do it anymore. We shall see how many years we get to do this. I'm already wondering what we should do for next year? LOL! Here are some photos of the Kidz Block Party we went to on Halloween two miles from our house. They had pony rides, slides, rock climbing, face painting, candy, games, and live music for the kids best of all it was free!

Love how some parents really get into it!
